Day 8: MYSTERY

Oh no! A body has been discovered at the Garland Manor.

There were 5 guests: Abigail, Bill, Caroline, David, and Emily.

The party started at 8 PM, and spanned 5 rooms: the study, the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, and the bedroom.

Abigail discovered the body at midnight in the bedroom, at which point the police were called. You've finished interviewing everyone - can you find what went down?

There is exactly 1 killer, who may choose to lie. Everyone else always tells the truth.

The killer must visit the murder location (the bedroom) sometime during the night.

Abigail's Testimony

Well, I started the party with Bill in the study at 8 PM. And then found the body in the bedroom at midnight. During the party, I visited every room in the manor exactly once. The dining room was fabulous - it's no wonder we all ended up there at 10 PM.

Bill's Testimony

I'm innocent I tell you! I was with at least one other person every hour of the night! Well, except for 11 PM...but, look, I never went into the bedroom. Or the living room for that manner. I spent most of the party in the kitchen - once alone, once with just Abigail, and once with just Caroline and David. One of those visits was at midnight.

Caroline's Testimony

At 8 PM, I was with David in the dining room. Then at 9 PM, I went to the kitchen, before heading back to the dining room at 10 PM, as I'm sure everyone will agree to. I stayed there until 11 PM, before heading to the kitchen again at midnight.

David's Testimony

Look (BURP), I couldn't have been the killer since I was busy eating food. I was in the dining room during 3 hours of the night, and was with at least 1 other person every hour. Oh, except for 11 PM. I started eating at the dining room with Caroline at 8 PM, and was with Bill at midnight. I never went to the study, there's never any food there.

Emily's Testimony

I only went to the bedroom once, at the start of the party at 8 PM. Besides that, I visited every room except for the kitchen. I was in the dining room at 10 PM with everyone else. At that time, I noticed Caroline came into the dining room from the direction of the study. At midnight, I was in the dining room. which is when Abigail found the body.
